Disposition Statement Assessment
As a future educator my personal disposition will be to create a positive learning
environment, establish communication with both students and parents, be respectful of all
students, understand students’ backgrounds and needs, hold high standards, and reflect on
myself to create improvement. In the classroom having a positive environment can change
everything and can make student successful. I will remind students to do their best and
encourage students to speak only positive words. I will make sure communication is a major,
parents and teacher communication is very important and needed for success.
Showing respect for students will allow students to feel comfortable with you and show
trust. When students and teachers have developed trust between one another is when learning
can become fun and successful. Being able to understand students’ needs and backgrounds
allows for room to be made to make sure each child has the tools they need to be able to work
to the best of their ability. I will hold high standards that way students can learn to reach their
potential and become excellent. Reflection is also important in the classroom. Reflection on
how students did during the lessons and reflection as a teacher to improve myself to make sure
I am working to the best of my ability for the students.
My self- assessment will support my disposition statement by proving what I believe is
important and where my focus is in the classroom. This assessment also helps support my
disposition statement having my statement mirror the results of how I “agree” with something
or “strongly agree” and show my understating of importance on each topic.
Through my program of studies, I have grown in my professional disposition in many
ways. I have truly grown by being able to understand what makes a classroom work and what is
truly needed to make sure students are successful. I learned that each student learns differently
and that each student needs a different set of learning tool in order to achieve their learning
goals. I have also grown by understanding reflection on myself can make a change. If I take time
to evaluate my own teaching, I can make sure that my way of teaching works for each student
and what I can do to make sure my class learns. As students need to reflect and take ownership
of their learning the teacher needs to take that accountability on their teaching as well.
The connection between professional disposition statements and the Model Code of
Ethics are both expectations that work together. The Model Code of Ethic is an expectation for
teachers to hold in the workplace for themselves. The Model of Ethics are qualities of a teacher
to create an effective classroom. The disposition statement is applying the Model Code of
Ethics to the classroom and creating your own version for your students. The Model Code of
Ethics helps explain what is expected of you and the disposition statement is putting it all
together and applying it to your classroom.
When it comes it improvement, I will always be open to learning more and making
adjustments to achieve success. The steps I will take will be to talk to other teachers and getting
their knowledgeable input. Another step I can take to improvement is reflection on my work
and thinking if I have put my best work forward or if I need to make more improvement and
asking myself “how?”.
